In the turbulent and unstable later years of the Tang Dynasty, during the martial arts assembly held once every 18 years to reward good and punish evil, the ten senior figures of the martial arts world chose the master of the Yihua Palace to undertake the responsibility of dealing with the ten evil people. However, they were unexpectedly stopped by her husband, Yan Nantian. After losing to Yan Nantian by a narrow margin, the couple turned against each other, vowing that in 18 years they would train a disciple to eliminate all ten evils.To express their gratitude for Yan Nantian's life-saving grace, the ten evil people took on the responsibility of raising his son, Xiao Yu'er (played by Andy Lau), and intended to cultivate him into the world's most wicked person. The master of Yihua Palace, on the other hand, adopted Hua Wuqiu (played by Brigitte Lin) and began teaching her martial arts while instilling the belief that all men should be killed. After 18 years, the ten evil people and the master ordered Xiao Yu'er and Hua Wuqiu to compete for the position of leader at the new assembly, and their life paths began to intersect.
