The story takes place in France in 1940. The Germans' iron hooves broke through the tranquility that enveloped this beautiful land. It is located in a small village in the Straits of Calais Province. In order to save their lives, the villagers decided to leave their homes on which they depend for survival.As the village chief, Paul (Olivier Gourmet) naturally shoulders the heavy responsibility of guiding the villagers, and her wife Mathilde Seigner (Mathilde Seigner) also uses her unique way to bring confidence and hope to the villagers.The young Susanna (Alice Isaaz) does not follow the large army. She embarks on the other end of the journey with the 8-year-old German boy, who is going to find the boy's father, Hans (August Diehl), who is thrown into prison as a war criminal.While Susanna and the boy were looking for Hans, Hans never gave up on the hope of finding his son.
