During the Edo period, Shioya Kojuro was a police officer patrolling the prison. He believed that the woman he knew, who was wrongfully accused of arson, was innocent, so he decided to investigate personally, which was usually prohibited. There, Kojuro realized that the woman learned a surprising secret from her fiancé. Additionally, the story depicts the tragic fates of female criminals, such as the woman involved in the mysterious case of Kiri Island and a girl who steals money from Kojuro while playing the role of a parent.
