The story takes place in the 23rd century, and the development of human technology has reached the point where interstellar travel is possible. Spock (Zachary Quinto), a boy born in Vulcan in 2230, is often ridiculed and bullied by his peers because his mother, Amanda Grayson (Winona Ryder), is human. Father Sarek (Ben Cross) is a diplomat on Vulcan, and Spock has been constantly torn between a serious Vulcan logical education and his human emotions since he was a child. Growing up, Spock meets Kirk (Chris Pine), who also has great ambitions, and although the two are constantly conflicting, they gradually begin to understand each other through various mission tests.
