Former FBI agent Will Sawyer (played by Dwayne Johnson) and his partner Ben (played by Pablo Schreiber) are seriously injured during an operation. From then on, they step back from the front lines and retreat to the mountains to find a new livelihood. Will utilizes his expertise to run a security company, living a simple and prosperous life with his wife and children. One year, a well-known Hong Kong billionaire, Zhao Longji, constructs a complex and towering skyscraper called the Pearl Tower. To successfully obtain a high insurance policy from the insurance company, he finds Will through Ben and hires him to conduct a security assessment for the Pearl Tower. Unbeknownst to Will, it is a trap set by his adversaries. He arrives in Hong Kong with his wife Sarah (played by Neve Campbell) and their two children, only to fall into a deadly ambush.
