Space Dream

[Dreams of Space] tells a story on the surface (please allow me to quote some sources): 1957 was a year full of hope and genuine faith, with a bright future ahead, as the Soviet Union successfully launched a satellite. In a small port city, Hesi and Laura—a simple restaurant chef and his waitress girlfriend—led a life full of aspirations. However, their naive romance was interrupted by a mysterious stranger, Jaman, who was Hesi's enigmatic friend and rival in the boxing ring. One was an innocent country boy, while the other was a cynical man from the wider world. Hesi idolized the suave Jaman, striving to imitate him, and firmly believed that Jaman was a Soviet astronaut undergoing secret training, destined to someday fly to space. However, Jaman went missing and had an affair with Laura before disappearing. Instead of retaliating against Jaman, Hesi voluntarily gave up Laura, ended up with Laura's sister, and ultimately married her. Years later, Hesi encountered a real Soviet astronaut, Yuri Gagarin, on a train to Moscow… In Russia, the entire Soviet Union was abuzz with Gagarin's return, and Hesi rushed out of the crowd to present flowers to this stranger he met on his journey, still imbued with the deep conviction he had in Jaman back in the day. The film won Best Film (St. George Golden Prize) at the 27th Moscow International Film Festival.
