Mainland undercover police officer Gong Wei (played by Jet Li) cannot provide more care for his seriously ill wife or offer more concern for his understanding and skilled son Gong Gu (played by Xie Miao) due to work obligations. When his wife and son desperately need him, Gong Wei is ordered by his superior to pretend to be a criminal and escape with a Hong Kong gangster known as Xiao Hei (played by Kuo Shou Liang), embarking on a journey to go undercover with the gang led by Pu Guang (played by Yu Rongguang) in Hong Kong. During a bomb deal, Gong Wei finds himself in a black market conflict with the Pu Guang gang, where he rescues Hong Kong inspector Fang Yihua (played by Anita Mui) amidst the chaos and earns Pu Guang's trust due to his outstanding skills. Fang Yihua travels to Beijing to investigate Gong Wei's identity, learns the truth, and after Gong Wei's wife passes away, she takes Gong Gu to Hong Kong in search of his father. Fang Yihua's superior exposes the father-son identities of Gong Wei and Gong Gu, placing Gong Wei in a dangerous situation, and at this moment, an auction robbery planned by Pu Guang is imminent...
