Taxi Judge Mandarin

In the early 1990s in Hong Kong, it was common for taxi drivers to refuse passengers and charge exorbitant prices. A broker from an insurance company, Ah Kin (played by Anthony Wong), was highly capable in his job, and his envious colleagues did not know that his motivation for working was his beautiful wife and their unborn child. The police officer Ah Chong (played by Yuen Kok) who was very efficient in handling cases, was a close friend of Ah Kin, and they often drank together during their free time to discuss happy and troubling matters. On a stormy night, when Ah Kin's wife was about to give birth, Ah Kin hurriedly called for a taxi, but the driver actually took a higher-paying passenger while he was helping his wife downstairs. Later, another taxi driver saw him bidding high for a ride but coldly ordered them out of the car when he saw that Ah Kin's wife was covered in blood. Subsequently, due to the dress being stuck in the car door, his wife was tragically dragged to death by the speeding taxi. Heartbroken, Ah Kin wanted to cheer up with Ah Chong's encouragement but found himself unable to. His career and life became a total mess. Remembering several previous humiliating incidents with taxi drivers, he decided to become a taxi judge.
