In the late 20th century, the killer organization '800 Dragons' grew powerful. Its leader, Lei Qilong, faced betrayal from Ji Qiutang (played by Liu Xun), and, unable to withstand it, he led his followers to Moscow to find a contact known as 'Billiards' to help quell the rebellion. Billiards, living in the north, had adopted a son and a daughter, Yao Long (played by Xu Guanjie) and Ye Mumei (played by Maggie Cheung). Unable to resist the combined assaults of Lei Qilong and Ji Qiutang's killers, Billiards chose to cooperate with Lei Qilong and lured Yao Long into the enemy's hands.To eliminate Ji Qiutang, Lei Qilong rigorously trained the exceptionally gifted Yao Long, who became manipulated after losing his memory; fortunately, Lei Qilong's young daughter, Ziyan Zhu (played by Li Lizhen), kept him company with her playful banter. After training, Yao Long became a killing machine codenamed 'Freeman', eliminating Ji Qiutang's influence for Lei Qilong. During this time, he was sought out by the struggling Ye Mumei, but the two could not recognize each other. Miss Tiger (played by Wu Jiali), the daughter of Ji Qiutang, collaborated with officer Xin Tian (played by Sun Xing) to investigate the true identity of Freeman. Ye Mumei was taken away by Lei Qilong, and as Yao Long gradually regained his memory, he aimed to reclaim what he had lost...This film is based on the Japanese manga 'Crying Killing God'.
