 Synopsis
In the remote Langruo Temple, there are frequent deaths, and the penniless scholar Ning Caichen (played by Leslie Cheung) disregards the objections of the Taoist priest Yan Chixia (played by Wu Ma) and stays there. Late at night, Ning Caichen encounters the female ghost Nie Xiaoqian (played by Joey Wong), but unexpectedly, Xiaoqian reveals her murderous intent. However, Ning Caichen's integrity and kindness touch Xiaoqian, leading to an extraordinary romance between a human and a ghost. This matter is discovered by the thousand-year-old tree demon Granny (played by Lau Siu-Ming), who intends to marry Xiaoqian off to the Black Mountain Old Demon.
