At a party, in order to help her best friend Brandon shake off suspicions about being gay, she stages a fake ‘loss of virginity’ scene that catapults her to fame and makes her a popular figure at school, leading to no more bullying. Many ordinary boys come to her hoping that Olive can help them become popular as well. From then on, the goody two-shoes transforms into a carefree vixen, while Olive's reputation among her classmates completely sullies. After reading Hawthorne's novel 'The Scarlet Letter,' Olive realizes that the experiences of the protagonist in the story are strikingly similar to hers, prompting her to boldly stick a bright red 'A' on her chest, dramatically changing her high school life...
