"Sonic the Hedgehog" is adapted from the globally popular video game produced by Sega. Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) is a blue hedgehog who originally lived happily on his home planet. However, an evil force covets Sonic's super speed and wants to take this skill away. To protect Sonic, his kind owl guardian gives him a pack of magic rings, which can help Sonic teleport to a safe planet. Thus, Sonic arrives on Earth and lands in Green Hills, Montana. Initially, Sonic lives very comfortably here and makes a group of friends. However, everything becomes complicated when the government discovers Sonic's existence. They send the evil scientist Dr. Robotnik (played by Jim Carrey), commanding him to capture Sonic and conduct terrifying scientific experiments on him. To evade Dr. Robotnik's pursuit, Sonic and Sheriff Tom (played by James Marsden) must head to San Francisco to retrieve the magic rings that were left behind.
