The tree demon Black Mountain wreaked havoc across the three realms, but was later sealed by the four spirit demons who represented life, aging, sickness, and death. Only the spirit seeker Pu Songling could unlock the four seals through writing. Pu Songling wrote "Painted Skin", "Infant Ning", and "Little Xie", opening the first three seals of life, aging, and sickness, releasing the Black Mountain avatar. As the Black Mountain avatar battled with the celestial maiden, the latter was obliterated, but she transformed into Pu Songling’s wife, Zhen Niang, with the help of his wife. Zhen Niang took Pu Songling to the demon realm to close the three doors, but he had long held disdain for his first wife Zhen Niang. As they faced the challenges, he felt memories of being together with Zhen Niang, ultimately sealing away the Black Mountain, but Zhen Niang could never return...
