Synopsis

The story takes place during the time when the King of Nanzhao, Ge Luofeng, was seriously ill and his grandson, Yimouxun, was preparing to ascend to the throne. Ge Luofeng's son, Feng Qiaoyi, had died young, but his grandson, Yimouxun, was wise, capable, and good at comforting the people. However, due to Yimouxun's youth, many ministers were unwilling to submit to him. Only Zheng Hui, who had previously been captured by Ge Luofeng, remained grateful for Ge Luofeng's mercy in not killing him, and he was treated with high regard. Before Ge Luofeng died, he erected the Nanzhao Dehua Stele, stating that the rebellion against the Tang was unavoidable and expressing a desire for a lasting friendship with the Tang Dynasty. Yimouxun also had this intention, but at that time, many ministers in Nanzhao opposed submission to the Tang Dynasty. The two differing views and factions had long been in a struggle, and the story is set against this backdrop. The weak Nanzhao hoped to submit to the Tang Dynasty and sought to secretly convey their intention to submit in order to gain Tang support, but the journey was fraught with dangers and threats...
