In a dry well that had been sealed for over thirty years, the bodies of Takayama Ryuji (played by Hiroyuki Sanada) and the long-missing Sadako (played by Rie Inoue) were discovered. The forensic examination revealed that Sadako had died only one or two years prior, meaning she had survived for thirty years in the dry well. To investigate her lover's cause of death, Takayama's girlfriend Mai Takano (played by Miki Nakatani) searches for the whereabouts of Reiko Asakawa (played by Nanako Matsushima). She meets Asakawa's junior, Okazaki (played by Yurei Yanagi), and together they follow the clues related to Asakawa's initial investigation of the 'cursed videotape.' As they pursue this trail, more victims of the videotape keep appearing. The terrifying Sadako seems to have not vanished from the world, and her curse lurks as if it were an evil spirit shadowing them...This film is based on the original work by Koji Suzuki and is the authentic sequel to the previous film 'Ringu'.
