After Wen, Niu, and Feng escaped from prison, they were wanted by the public security forces. The three fled to a small village on the Sino-Vietnamese border, believing they could live a peaceful life. However, one day the village was surrounded by the military, and the three were captured alive and imprisoned in a concentration camp. They decided to wait for an opportunity to escape, but were discovered by the guards, who opened fire. Despite being shot multiple times, the three miraculously woke up; it turns out this was part of General Wulongs' plan because he needed some individuals who were officially dead to carry out secret missions. Wen and the others were chosen, and as long as they completed two tasks for Long, they could be reborn and obtain a French passport to move to France, otherwise, they would face death. The three had no choice but to agree. Thus, Wen, Niu, and Feng embarked on a perilous and inhumane war in purgatory, leading to a journey of sacrificing their lives for friendship, risking everything to achieve their desires, and aspiring to become martyrs. In the end, although Wen escaped from the forest of purgatory, he had lost everything.
