The continuous war between the Autobots and Decepticons has brought tremendous harm to Earth. In response, various countries on Earth united to form a reaction force to eliminate any Transformers, regardless of whether they are good or evil. Cade Yeager (played by Mark Wahlberg), a human closely associated with Optimus Prime, disregards the opposition from those around him and the pressure from the government, single-handedly providing shelter for Bumblebee, Ironhide, and other Autobots. During this time, he accidentally obtains a badge, which leads the crisis towards himself. The missing Optimus Prime drifts back to Cybertron, where he is captured and corrupted by Quintessa, the creator of the Transformers, who commands him to return to Earth to seek the all-powerful staff, destroy the Earth, and revive Cybertron. Meanwhile, Megatron reaches an agreement with the Earth government to jointly track down Cade and his allies, with the same objective of obtaining the staff that once belonged to the sorcerer Merlin.
