Rich kid Zhang Rongri (played by He Jiajin) impulsively commits a crime and enters a labor center to serve his sentence. He is honest and introverted, completely unaware of the rules of the street, and thus suffers from bullying by people like Xia Mao. During this time, he meets the loyal Ah Hao (played by Andy Lau), and the two become best friends. Afterwards, they turn over a new leaf, work hard to study, and even pass the secondary school examination. After being released from prison, the two, now with different identities, naturally embark on different life paths. Rongri flies to England to study law; Ah Hao, due to his poor family background, struggles to make a living, but is hunted down by his old enemy Ma Chao, ultimately being forced to retreat into the underworld alongside Xia Mao.
