"The Central Park Five" is adapted from a true story that caused a sensation across America. This film tells the notorious wrongful conviction of five teenagers known as the "Central Park Five," who were wrongly convicted of rape. This four-episode limited series will focus on five teenagers from Harlem: Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, and Korey Wise. The story begins in the spring of 1989, when these teenagers were first questioned about the rape incident. The entire narrative spans 25 years, culminating in their eventual exoneration in 2002, and a settlement agreement with New York City in 2014. The series is created by Ava DuVernay, who is also a co-writer and director of this four-part series. Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King from Participant Media, Oprah Winfrey from Harpo Films, Jane Rosenthal, Berry Welsh, and Robert De Niro from Tribeca Productions will serve as executive producers alongside DuVernay under her Forward Movement banner. In addition to DuVernay, writers for this limited series include Attica Locke, Robin Swicord, and Mike Starr. The cast features Emmy-nominated Michael K. Williams, Oscar-nominated Vera Farmiga, Emmy-winner John Leguizamo, Oscar-nominated and Emmy-award winner Felicity Huffman, Emmy-nominated Nancy Nash, Emmy-winner and two-time Globe nominee Blair Underwood, Grammy and Emmy-winner and Tony-nominated Christopher Jackson, Joshua Jackson, Omar J.
