Eraser head

In a dark and oppressive industrial town, the harsh roar of machinery fills the air. Henry Spencer (played by Jack Nance) visits his girlfriend's home for the first time, only to witness a bizarre and twisted family: a domineering mother, an incompetent father, a comatose grandmother, and an awkward daughter. Even more helpless, Henry finds himself forced into marriage with his girlfriend. Overnight, Henry becomes the father of a monstrous child. The ugly and repulsive baby fills him with fear and anxiety, driving his new wife to flee in the middle of the night, unable to bear the baby's cries. Unable to withstand such a dreadful life and nightly nightmares, Henry ultimately dismembers the deformed premature baby with scissors. "Eraserhead," the feature film debut of David Lynch, a key figure in the American film avant-garde movement, took five years to complete. Upon its release, it challenged the then-traditional and conservative film industry with its intensely avant-garde and bizarre style. Through emotional shaky shots and pervasive darkness and decay, David Lynch constructs a distorted and pathological family relationship, exposing the dark side of human nature. Employing Freudian psychoanalysis to dissect the angst and gloom in the human psyche, along with visually striking imagery, David Lynch has carved out his unique niche in the film world.
