Seventh grader Cornelius Fillmore is a teen offender with a record who was caught for stealing chalk that the school had recently received. He was 'arrested', and the safety patrol officer who caught him gave him a choice: to either help solve another case or be detained for the remainder of middle school. Fillmore decided to help, and he ultimately chose to join the safety patrol. The show revolves around him and his partner Ingrid Third, who attend X Middle School in the suburbs of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. The format of the show mimics hardboiled police dramas, with Fillmore and Ingrid solving crimes and mysteries such as stealing scooters, smuggling Tata sauce, hosting illegal frog races, and forging collectible cards.
