On September 18th, the Northeast fell into chaos. Bi Lian's father, Zhao Yisheng, along with Bai Qianshan and teacher Jiang Feng, actively organized anti-Japanese armed actions and worked with local anti-Japanese forces to blow up the Japanese-controlled Manchurian Railway. As a result, Bi Lian's home was brutally attacked by Japanese troops, leading to her father's sacrifice. While fleeing, Bi Lian and her sister Bi He got separated, and Bi He fell into the hands of bandits but was later rescued by anti-Japanese hero Hong Fei. Bi Lian and her classmate Bai Lan enlisted in the Nanjing Army School to serve the nation. Later, during a nationalists' anti-spy operation, they faced persecution from the Wang puppet regime's traitors, resulting in Jiang Feng jumping off a cliff to save Bi Lian. In her anguish, Bi Lian resolutely fled to Yan'an. Two years later, Bi Lian returned to Northeast China to develop the anti-Japanese armed forces, where she coincidentally reunited with her long-lost sister, the anti-Japanese heroine Bi He. Bi He rallied forces to join the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army. Jiang Feng, who survived the jump, returned to Changchun to assist the Soviet Red Army's offensive, organizing armed efforts to seize Japanese fortifications. In the battle, the Bi Lian sisters heroically sacrificed themselves, allowing the Soviet Red Army to successfully pass through the fort.
