Synopsis

Charles Ryder (Matthew Goode), a commoner boy, enters Oxford University with a dream, and soon meets and befriends the striking Sebastian Flette (Ben Whishaw). Sebastian is amazingly handsome, and from a wealthy family, full of sensitivity and sorrow by nature, he takes Charles into his mansion - Breithead Manor, and introduces him to his family, Charles soon becomes infatuated with his sister Juliet (Hayley Atwell), but Juliet is forced by his mother to get engaged to the Catholic Rex (Jonathan Cake), which makes Charles's relationship fruitless, and Sebastian's feelings for Charles can only stop at ambiguity.
