Psychotherapist Ben (played by Dylan McDermott) is caught having an affair with a female student by his wife Vivien (played by Connie Britton). After some negotiation, they decide to move with their daughter Violet to Los Angeles to start a new life. However, all sorts of strange people come in succession: the strange maid Moira (played by Alexandra Breckenridge), who is both young and old; the eerie girl Adelaide who can predict the future; a mysterious figure in a tight black rubber suit; the patient Tate (played by Evan Peters) with bizarre ideas; the uninvited neighbor Constance (played by Jessica Lange); and the chilling stalker Larry (played by Denis O'Hare). Additionally, there are monsters in the basement, persistent ghosts, and secret experiments in jars. These bizarre occurrences seem to confirm that the house hides some unspeakable mysteries...
