The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Naoki Prize-winning author Shizuka Ijuin. It tells the touching story of an eight-year-old girl, Sayaka (played by Shingo Shinjin), who loses her beloved dog, and an elderly man, Bunsei (played by Yoshiyo Kida), who lost his young son many years ago. As they share their feelings about the loss of important family members, they gradually find warmth in their sense of loss.
