This film is a true portrayal of actor Jiao Hongsheng's ten difficult years in the 1990s, with Jiao Hongsheng himself and his family returning to reflect on their respective roles. Jiao Hongsheng was originally a talented young actor who, from 1987 to 1993, starred in nearly ten films including 'Summer's Expectation', 'The Silver Snake Murder Case', 'Beijing, Good Morning' and 'Weekend Lover', gradually gaining some fame. During this time, he became obsessed with rock music and regarded John Lennon of The Beatles as his spiritual father. However, he also became involved with marijuana and soft drugs, which are far from the core spirit of rock. From then on, he stopped taking on new roles, becoming extreme, paranoid, and hysterical, making it impossible for him to interact with others. His parents, who lived far away in Siping, Northeast China, retired early and moved the entire family to Beijing in a bid to prevent their son from sinking further. Everything that followed seemed like an endless war. Jiao Hongsheng fell to his death on the afternoon of July 5, 2010, at the age of 43.
