 Synopsis
In the late Sui Dynasty, Wang Renze (played by Yu Chenghui), the nephew of the Sui general Wang Shichong, was supervising the construction of river defenses when he killed the rebel Zhang, known for his divine legs, who was opposing tyranny. However, he allowed Zhang's son, Xiao Huzi, to escape by jumping into the river. After being rescued by Shaolin monks, Xiao Huzi vowed to avenge his father's death and resolutely shaved his head to become a monk, taking the name 'Jueyuan' (played by Jet Li). After the captain of Wang Renze's guards encountered the shepherd girl Bai Wuxia (played by Ding Lan), he was entranced by her beauty and forcibly took her back to his mansion, intending to assault her after getting drunk. Just then, Jueyuan, who had come to seek revenge, discovered this. During the rescue of Bai Wuxia, Jueyuan was injured by Wang Renze due to his inadequate martial skills, prompting him to practice diligently after returning to the Shaolin Temple. Later, when Jueyuan saved Li Shimin from being pursued by Wang Renze, the Shaolin Temple faced calamity, adding to the weight of responsibility on Jueyuan.
