Although many people think having superpowers is a good thing, the reality is quite the opposite. Chris (played by Nicolas Cage) is born with the ability to predict the future, but he has suffered from a young age: various organizations, governments, and hospitals are extremely interested in him, causing his happy childhood to be spent in tests and research. As an adult, Chris lives in anonymity in Las Vegas, occasionally gambling to win some money. When a terrorist organization plans to bomb Los Angeles, agent Kelly (played by Julianne Moore) seeks Chris's help. However, this future-predicting superpower now causes Chris immense pain, as he foresees that no matter how hard he tries, Los Angeles will eventually be bombed, and his loved ones will die in the disaster...
