In the deep mountains of Canada, Logan (Hugh Jackman), burdened by the agony of eternal life as "Wolverine," is living in seclusion. During a conflict with hunters, he receives help from Yukio (Rila Fukushima), a woman from Japan. Yukio is a subordinate sent by his old acquaintance, Yukio Mishima, from World War II, who seems to be nearing the end of her life and wishes to see Logan one last time. Across the ocean, Logan finally meets the ailing Yukio, who hopes he can protect her granddaughter Mariko (Tao Okamoto). As the old man passes away, suddenly the funeral is engulfed in chaos. With Yukio's help, Logan fights to save Mariko, while Yukio's son Shingen (Hiroyuki Sanada) seems to have ulterior motives. During their escape, Logan unexpectedly discovers that he has lost his ability to heal, marking the greatest crisis for Wolverine...
