Ethan Hunt (played by Tom Cruise) and his team have been assigned the task of retrieving three highly destructive nuclear weapons. Just as they are about to complete the mission, three nuclear weapons are taken advantage of and stolen in an attempt to save one of their teammates, Luther (played by Ving Rhames). CIA director Ms. Sloan (played by Angela Bassett) brings in her best agent, Walker (played by Henry Cavill), to keep an eye on Ethan Hunt as he carries out the mission to recover the nuclear weapons. During this time, female agent Ilsa (played by Rebecca Ferguson) suddenly shows up, and Ethan Hunt realizes that he is facing not only terrorists but also moles hidden within the government.
