This film tells the story of the rise and fall of the German far-left terrorist organization 'Baader-Meinhof Group' in the 1970s. Led by Andreas Baader (played by Moritz Bleibtreu) and Ulrike Meinhof (played by Martina Gedeck), the German anarchist organization engaged in far-left terrorism from 1972 onwards. Under the guise of fighting against the 'moral corruption' of the German state, the group attempted to create a more humane social system. However, they committed numerous acts of assassination, bombing attacks, and kidnappings, using violence to combat violence, causing any semblance of humanity to vanish amidst the bloodshed of their terror. The film is based on journalist Stefan Aust's bestselling book from the 1980s and received several accolades, including a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film at the 81st Academy Awards in 2009, and nominations for Best Foreign Language Film at the 66th Golden Globe Awards and Best Actor at the 22nd European Film Awards.
