This drama is adapted from the eponymous manga by Reiko Shimizu, set in the forensic ninth research room of the Scientific Police Research Institute, commonly known as 'the Ninth.' It employs special MRI technology to recreate the memories of the deceased. Shin Gō (played by Riku Itagaki), a founding member and director of the Ninth with a rare appearance, amazing memory, and sharp insight, faces a tragic event with the death of his close friend and colleague, Katsuhiro Suzuki (played by Yuto Nakajima). The new rookie investigator assigned to Shin, Aoki (played by Yuto Nakajima), bears an uncanny resemblance to Suzuki. They uncover the 'thoughts' and 'secrets' hidden by the deceased until their last moments, grappling with feelings of guilt and entanglement, yet they strive to solve difficult cases, becoming irreplaceable partners.
