The film narrates the story set in the late Ming Dynasty during the period when eunuchs were in power. Elder Eunuch Cao Jinhua, accompanied by his guard Tang Wei, returns to his hometown in retirement. On the way, they encounter heavy rain and are forced to stay overnight at the abandoned Lanting Mountain post. Apart from them, other groups of people have also taken lodging there.
