The volcanic eruption awakened the sleeping Godzilla, who attacked a Japanese fishing boat and a Soviet submarine to replenish its energy. The Japanese government opposed the use of nuclear weapons, as they would endanger innocent civilians. Therefore, they deployed super fighter jets to confront Godzilla directly. Meanwhile, Dr. Hayashida discovered that Godzilla could be influenced by a certain type of radio wave and would return to its nest following it. Hence, they planned to lure Godzilla into the volcanic crater with the radio waves to eliminate it.
