Synopsis

In a small town in the American Midwest, doll maker Samuel Mullins (played by Anthony LaPaglia) and his wife Esther Mullins (played by Miranda Otto) live a happy and carefree life with their daughter Annabelle (played by Samara Lee). However, a sudden car accident claims Annabelle's life, plunging the Mullins family into darkness. Twelve years later, an old bus arrives with Sister Charlotte (played by Stephanie Sigman) and her adopted children, and from then on, the Mullins' house becomes a temporary orphanage for them. At this time, Samuel's demeanor is gloomy; he takes the children on a tour of the house, but specifically forbids the girls from entering Annabelle's room. Curiously, Linda and Janice do not heed Samuel's warning, thus opening a door to horror...
