Tatsuichi, caught for illegal gambling, was asked in prison by the innocent Yakuza Shimako, sentenced to death, to visit his brother and prove his innocence, Kuroba's Senpachi or Araiso's Jubei. The next morning, Tatsuichi left the prison with the young Yakuza Hyakutaro, but became upset when he received unwarranted hospitality at the deeply connected Kamajū in Aota, parting ways with Tatsuichi. A few days later, at a lodging in Oarai, Tatsuichi managed to track down Kuroba's Senpachi, shared Shimako's situation, and requested his help. Senpachi initially agreed but that night, Tatsuichi was attacked in his sleep by Kuroba's gang. Using his skilled Iaijutsu, Tatsuichi drove off the assassins, confronted Senpachi, and learned that it was Araiso's Jubei who bribed officials and set up Shimako, then rescued the alluring woman Okome who had been held captive by Kuroba's gang. After that, Okome became infatuated with Tatsuichi and would not leave his side. Days passed as Tatsuichi, troubled by Hyakutaro impersonating him, hurried to Araiso's Jubei while worrying about Shimako's fate. During this time, Shimako's daughter Ochiyo desperately pleaded with Jubei to save her father. However, Jubei attempted to exploit Ochiyo's vulnerability for his own gains. Just in the nick of time, Tatsuichi arrived and defeated Jubei's henchmen with his signature reverse cut, forcing Jubei to write a letter proving Shimako's innocence. Tatsuichi then learned from Ochiyo that Hyakutaro was Shimako's son. He quickly delivered Jubei's letter to Shimako, who shed tears of joy upon being proven innocent. After leaving Shimako, Tatsuichi's solitary figure disappeared into the dunes of Kashimanada, followed desperately by Okome.
