Synopsis

Dehua (played by Andy Lau) loves playing cards. Making a living through card games, he is known for his excellent skills and good character. However, his long-term girlfriend Yongqi (played by Gigi Leung) has poor card discipline, which prevents them from getting married, leaving her frustrated. Dehua's brother, Tianle (played by Louis Koo), understands that his brother supports their mother who suffers from dementia and himself through card playing, so he decides to challenge Qingyun (played by Sean Lau) to a card match, only to face defeat repeatedly. In one game, Yongqi, unwilling to be repeatedly pushed away from their engagement by Dehua’s issues with card discipline, curses him to only pick bad cards from then on, and leaves with Qingyun, who also failed to become a disciple. The curse turns out to be effective, leading Dehua's family into decline, but he remains optimistic, believing that his 'good friend' will return. In a mahjong tournament held by his brother's company, he steadily plays his way to a rematch with Qingyun; will he emerge victorious in the end?
