Surviving a great disaster, Solomon returned to a monastery in his hometown of England, hoping to live a life free from killing. Under the guidance of a priest, he set off on the road back home. At this time, the outside world was rife with slaughter and pillaging, and Solomon, traveling alone, faced great peril, but was saved by the Crusoe family, who were preparing to migrate to America. During his time with the Crusoe family, Solomon felt the warmth and trust of a family. One morning, the Crusoe family was attacked by a group of evil warriors who killed Mr. Crusoe and his two sons, kidnapping Mr. Crusoe's daughter, Meridith (played by Rachel Hurd-Wood).
