Sandra (played by Imelda Staunton) and her husband have been married for forty years. During these long forty years, it can't be said that they have never had any disputes, but they have been affectionate towards each other, and Sandra deeply trusts her partner. However, one day, Sandra is shocked to discover that her husband not only had an affair but that the other party is actually her best friend. Heartbroken and angry, Sandra chooses to leave and goes to London to seek refuge with her sister Biff (played by Celia Imrie).
