A new unnamed series based on the comic "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" has been picked up for development by Netflix, directly ordered for two seasons, totaling 20 episodes. It will share the same universe as CW's hit series "Riverdale," with both shows adapted from Archie Comics. Sabrina is one of the most popular characters in Archie Comics, but she has not appeared in "Riverdale." In September, CW announced it would develop her standalone series, which has gained traction. The story focuses on young witch Sabrina Spellman, who is half-human, half-witch, and is committed to fighting against evil forces that threaten her, her family, and humanity. It is filled with elements of the supernatural, horror, magic, and witchcraft, with a style reminiscent of "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Exorcist." The production team is the same as "Riverdale," with Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa as the writer and Lee Toland Krieger directing, produced by Warner Television and Berlanti Productions. According to sources from THR, filming will occur back-to-back, with the first season being shot from February to June next year, and the second season from June to October.
