For hundreds of years, Shaolin Temple has promoted great causes and developed martial arts, making immortal contributions during the peaceful times. The Qing court, in its effort to suppress dissent and control the people, took advantage of the traitor Shi Shaofeng (played by Tian Jun) and others to besiege Shaolin, leading to the dispersal of Shaolin disciples. The great Zen master of Shaolin had a proud disciple, Yun Fei (played by Tan Daoliang), who completed his martial arts training and was ordered by his master to descend the mountain to protect anti-Qing patriots and cleanse the Shaolin gates. While on the road, Yun Fei received help from Tan Xiaodi (played by Jackie Chan) to infiltrate Baishi Town where Shi Shaofeng was located. At that moment, many patriots were rescuing a Shaolin disciple, unfortunately, Shi Shaofeng's group was already prepared; Shi’s right-hand man Du Qing (played by Sammo Hung) inflicted severe casualties on the patriots. Yun Fei approached Du Qing, feigning allegiance to Shi Shaofeng's group but was unexpectedly seen through by Shi and fell into captivity. Tan Xiaodi intervened again and rescued Yun Fei. It turned out that Tan Xiaodi's brother was killed by Shi Shaofeng, and the two decided to join forces to take down Shi.
