Ethan (played by Tom Cruise) was once a secret agent working in a special department. After a beautiful woman named Julia (played by Michelle Monaghan) appeared in his life, Ethan decided to retire and lead a peaceful life. Unfortunately, the good times didn’t last long; shortly after his happy life began, Ethan received news that his protege Lindsey (played by Keri Russell) had been kidnapped by his arch-nemesis Davian (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman). Davian is cold and ruthless, and Lindsey is in grave danger. To rescue Lindsey, Ethan returns to his old profession, organizing a skilled team of agents to launch an attack on their target.
