This film is the New Year movie version of the same-named, highly rated, thousand-episode television drama that has repeatedly won viewership championships in the Guangdong region. The Kang family is thrilled upon hearing that the government promises substantial compensation after ancient relics were suspected to have been discovered in the Kang family courtyard in Xiguan, Guangzhou. At a family meeting, Sister Kang (Shen Dianxia) announces her plan to divide the compensation into four parts, giving one share each to herself and her three sons: Agong (Su Zhidan), Azong (Guo Chang), and Ayau, while the share for the one who is not married or divorced will be kept by her. Twenty years ago, Uncle Kang (Zeng Zhiwei) left for Hong Kong with his young son Azu (Yu Wenle) in search of fortune, but after seeing the news, he returns to Guangzhou hoping for a share of the windfall.
