The film is adapted from Rachel Yoder's novel "Nightbitch," which was a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award. It tells the story of a newly minted mother and female artist who becomes increasingly lonely and anxious while taking care of her child full-time. In her eyes, she has never been a mother, and now that she is a mother, she must become the happy one. After many efforts and attempts, she discovers that the only way to fulfill this wish is to transform into a mother dog.
