Jeff Stevenson, along with his wife and daughter, went to Lake Lanier for a fun weekend getaway to celebrate his daughter's birthday. However, when Jeff decided to go undercover to investigate a drowning case to assist local detective Daniel Wilson, the vacation turned into a working holiday for him as he sought to solve the drowning case. As they worked together, Jeff dismissed Daniel's theory about the haunting of Lake Lanier, not to mention the history of the submerged city of Oscarville—a once-thriving Black community that was destroyed following accusations of the rape and murder of Mae Crow in 1912. Jeff's dismissal led him to become increasingly concerned about a series of events. When three masked strangers forcibly entered his home, forcing him and his family to fight for survival, his worst fears soon became a reality.
