Jack Taylor (played by Sean Faris) blames himself for his father's accidental death, leading to uncontrolled emotions and a very tense relationship with his mother. Compared to his younger brother, a tennis star who achieves early success, the combative Jack is seen by his mother as nothing but trouble. With his brother receiving a large scholarship, Jack and the family move to Orlando, Florida. Jack intends to start a peaceful life, but at a party, he is provoked by local fighting champion Ryan McCarthy (played by Cam Gigandet), resulting in a brutal fight where Jack gets severely beaten. To redeem himself, Jack starts training in combat under coach Gene Roca through a classmate's introduction. During the training process, Jack's aggressive nature gradually changes as he learns to endure and control his emotions, shifting his initial desire for revenge against Ryan. However, Ryan is not easily deterred, and a deadly showdown between them is destined to happen.
