This episode tells the story of the Doctor and Tyler spending Christmas in contemporary London. However, the alien Sycorax invades Earth at this time. Ultimately, the Doctor, who passed out after his regeneration, wakes up just in time to repel the invaders. In the UK, this episode had 9.8 million viewers and received positive reviews. This was David Tennant's first full appearance as the Tenth Doctor in the entire 'Doctor Who' series; he previously appeared in the last scene of 'The Parting of the Ways.' It is also the first Christmas special of 'Doctor Who.' Since then, BBC One has produced a Christmas edition of 'Doctor Who' every year.
