By the end of the 21st century, humanity's technological level has reached a high degree of advancement; cloning technology and space travel are no longer dreams. At the same time, many scientists continue their tireless pursuit of the secrets and truths of human origins. Through the examination and comparison of many ancient civilizations, scientists Elizabeth Shaw (played by Noomi Rapace) and Charlie Holloway (played by Logan Marshall-Green) discover that humans may have been created by aliens from a distant galaxy. Funded by Weyland Corporation, they embark on the spaceship Prometheus, commanded by Vickers (played by Charlize Theron), to that unknown planet. After investigating the local environment, the Earthlings' hypotheses are confirmed.
