Fang Shiyu (played by Jet Li), Lei Tingting (played by Cecilia Cheung), and Chen Jialuo (played by Adam Cheng) arrive at the headquarters of the Red Flower Society. While the society is thriving, internal struggles for power continue unabated. The leader, Zhenhai (played by Ji Chunhua), is dissatisfied with his father's decision to pass leadership to Chen Jialuo, and on several occasions, he attempts to assassinate him unsuccessfully, leading to a personal feud with Fang Shiyu. Chen Jialuo orders Shiyu and others to steal a brocade box being escorted by the Fusang warriors. Despite the help of Miao Cuihua (played by Siu Fong Fong), the mission fails, and during the process, Shiyu encounters An'er (played by Kwan Aimee), the daughter of the governor of Guangdong, with whom he has secretly fallen in love. To seize the brocade box again, Fang Shiyu is tasked to get close to An'er, but is cunningly plotted against by the governor of Guangdong. In a critical moment, An'er saves Shiyu and the others' lives. Shiyu is humiliated and is deceived by Chen Jialuo into renouncing his martial arts. The secret inside the brocade box is discovered by Zhenhai, leading to the death of Li Guobang (played by Yuen Kwei), and Chen Jialuo is imprisoned while Zhenhai ascends to the position of leader. Fang Shiyu returns after recovery, preparing to eliminate the traitors of the Red Flower Society at any cost.
