In the near future, all kinds of human organs can be transplanted. Robots, cyborgs, and androids flood the world, making it difficult to distinguish between real humans and artificial beings. In the grand building of a bustling metropolis, executives of a company called Hanka are discussing business with guests from Africa when suddenly the banquet turns into a bloody massacre as rampaging robots wreak havoc. Major Mira Killian (played by Scarlett Johansson), a member of the Public Security's Ninth Division, leads her subordinates, including Batou (played by Pilou Asbæk), to the scene to quell the situation. Investigations into the rampaging geisha robots reveal that a mysterious figure known as 'Kuze' is behind this series of attacks, targeting the Hanka company and its researchers who possess cutting-edge biotechnology. After a dangerous series of encounters, the Major gets closer to the truth, while also gradually uncovering a shocking secret about herself...
